Alpha Xi Sigma
The Audacious Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Xi Sigma was chartered on November 12, 1944, by our founding Mother, Anita Harriston (1907–1996).
Soror Anita Harriston made history in 1952 as the first African American woman to earn a master’s degree from The University of Tulsa.
Her excellence, courage, dedication to education, and commitment to service paved the way for generations to follow.
We honor her remarkable legacy and celebrate the path she helped create for those who came after her.
The Alpha Xi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is committed to making a meaningful impact through service, education, and community engagement. Our primary service efforts are driven by Sigma Gamma Rho’s National Programs, allowing us to advance the Sorority’s mission while addressing the needs of the communities we serve.
Through partnerships, outreach initiatives, educational programs, and community service, Alpha Xi Sigma strives to uplift, empower, and strengthen the Tulsa community. We are dedicated to identifying opportunities where our collective efforts can make a lasting difference—supporting youth, families, educators, and community members throughout the Tulsa area.
Our commitment to service is rooted in the belief that Greater Service, Greater Progress begins at home. By combining the vision of Sigma Gamma Rho’s national initiatives with the unique needs of Tulsa, Alpha Xi Sigma continues to build a legacy of meaningful service and positive community impact
